While at Georgetown, Dr Hernandez-Colon served as a Chief Resident. He worked with and treated Veterans at the VA Hospital in Washington DC and Undeserved Patients at a Community Clinic in Montgomery County, Maryland.

After receiving exceptional training in psychotherapy, he returned to New York City to complete a fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center. During this time, Dr. Hernandez Colon also pursued training in integrated medicine and psychiatry.

Dr Hernandez Held positions in Academics including Assistant Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry of SUNY Downstate Medical Center and at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center. He served as the Medical Director of The Comprehensive Psychiatric emergency Program at Brookdale Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y

Currently, Dr. Hernandez Colon is the Medical Director of Inpatient Psychiatry and the Associate Program Director of the Psychiatry Residency Program at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey.

Services and Fees 

 

Imed psychiatry accepts checks, cash, money orders, credit cards and electronic payments like Venmo and Zelle. Payment is due following each session. We Do not participate in any insurance plans.

 

 

Health Insurance

 

If you carry health insurance covering any service, please carefully review your coverage prior to your first appointment. IMed Psychiatry does not participate in any insurance panels for services provided in this private practice. Payment is required in full at the time of service. A billing sheet appropriate for submission to your insurance carrier will be provided at the time of your visit.

 

 

Cancellations

 

Imed psychiatry charges for missed appointments except in cases of illness, emergency and job related problems. Please allow 24 hours notice in the event of a cancelled session. If cancellations are done without 24 hour notice this may be considered a missed session and the charge will be for a full session.

 

 

Costs

 

 

New Patient Initial Comprehensive Psychiatric Asessment: $300

The first consultation is 60 minutes long and is focused on obtaining a comprehensive history and patient's concerns, symptoms and current mental health treatment. Diagnosis and treatment options will be discussed as well as ways to best implement a treatment plan.

 

Follow up Medication Management and Brief psychotherapy: $200

This appointment will be 30 minutes long and will include tracking treatment progress, alleviation of symptoms, monitoring for side effects of medications.

 

Individual Psychotherapy: $250

This appointment is 60 minutes long. Different modalities of individual psychotherapy are used in order to address your specific situations and concerns. Ideally individual psychotherapy is a once a week treatment . Dr Hernandez is very dynamic, talented and engaging in psychotherapy promoting the patient's improvement of symptoms and obtaining skills to handle different situations, feelings and modifying behaviors.
